What is the difference between Osteopathy & Myotherapy?
Osteopathy
Osteopathy takes a whole-body approach to assessing and treating pain and movement problems. An osteopath considers how the muscles, joints, spine, nerves, and other body systems work together to identify the underlying factors contributing to your symptoms.
Treatment may include joint mobilisation or manipulation, soft tissue techniques, exercise, education, and lifestyle advice.
Myotherapy
Myotherapy has a muscle-focused approach. It primarily assesses and treats pain and dysfunction involving muscles, tendons, fascia, and other soft tissues.
Treatment commonly includes massage, trigger point therapy, dry needling, cupping, stretching, exercise prescription, and rehabilitation.
How do I know which appointment to book?
If your pain is more muscular, such as muscle tightness, sporting injuries, or tension you may benefit from myotherapy. If your symptoms involve joints, the spine, movement patterns, or require a broader assessment, osteopathy may be the best place to start. In many cases, elements of both are used during your treatment to provide the most effective care.
You don't need to worry about choosing the "right" treatment. At Aligned Form, both osteopathy and myotherapy are integrated when appropriate, allowing your treatment to be tailored to your individual needs rather than being limited to one approach.
Still unsure? Simply book either service, and we'll assess your condition and use the approach that best suits your needs. The goal is to provide the right treatment for you, not to fit you into a particular treatment style.
